Health

Water can be drunk from the taps. The sea water is of good quality; but it is however advisable to have your health insurance details with you during a holiday in Noordwijk. It is advisable to take out travel insurance prior to your trip too.

Blue Flag

De blauwe vlag is een herkenningssymbool voor goede stranden!The Blue Flag in an international quality label which is awarded annually to seaside resorts which have clean, environmentally-friendly, safe swimming areas. Noordwijk meets the stringent prerequisites nearly every year. The Blue Flag is an internationally recognized symbol of first-rate beaches. The following is assessed: the quality of the swimming water, the sanitary facilities, facilities for the handicapped and the quality of the beach.

Safety

Although Noordwijk is a safe village, as is the case everywhere else - t is always advisable to keep a close eye on your belongings. Lock valuables away in your car, and keep an eye on your bag / purse.

Swimming

Only swim on incoming tides (flow), never on outgoing tides (ebb). During summertime lifeguards and a rescue service are in operation in the seaside resorts. Please take note of their instructions: at a couple of spots warning notices are in place, which could save your life.

Dogs on the beach

No dogs are allowed anywhere on the beach between the 15th May and the 1st October of each year. Dogs are always welcome at Exit 1 (Noordwijk).

Nudist beach

Two official nudist beaches are situated to the north of the village. The first one is situated just to the south of the Duindamse turning, between beach post numbers 78 and 79.5. Sanitary facilities, beach pavilion and bicycle stand are all located at the beach turning (400m distance). Parking facilities by the Forestry Commission information kiosk, which is located on the ring road, 1.6 km distance from the nudist beach.
The second nudist beach lies just to the north of the Langevelder turning, between beach post numbers 71.5 and 74. Reasonably accessible by bus. Barbecues

Barbeques and fires are prohibited on the beach. Many of the beach cafés have their own barbeque facilities.

Fast vessels

All fast vessels (i.e. water scooters and jet skis) are prohibited on the beach. No vessels allowed within 300 sea metres of the beach.
