BreekdeWeek met Muziek in Jeroen

Just over 100 years ago, George Gershwin composed Rhapsody in Blue for the Paul Whiteman Orchestra, blending elements of classical music, jazz and blues. This iconic piece ushered in a new era in American music history and remains one of the most recognisable compositions of our time.

Tim Kliphuis and his Trio are celebrating 20 years of touring together with a brand-new, virtuosic take on Rhapsody in Blue that swings, grooves and dazzles. With their signature high-octane sound, the three musicians take on the roles of both orchestra and soloist, bringing the free-flowing spirit of the piece to life with the improvisational energy that Gershwin’s timeless melodies deserve.

The Trio then turns to the music of another legendary American composer: Aaron Copland. They perform the popular arrangement of Hoedown from Rodeo, also widely performed by orchestras around the world.

To round off this exciting programme, the Trio presents a selection of Gershwin gems, including It Ain’t Necessarily So, I Got Rhythm and They Can’t Take That Away from Me, in solo guitar versions.
