Get on your bike and experience spring at its most colourful. The Noordwijk Spring Flower Cycling Tour is a varied 28.6-kilometre cycle-junction route through the Duin- en Bollenstreek. Starting in Noordwijk, you cycle through Noordwijkerhout towards Lisse, passing sweeping flower fields, green country estates and well-known spring attractions.

The route starts at Vuurtorenplein in Noordwijk, close to the distinctive white lighthouse and the beach. From the coast, you cycle into the peaceful countryside. The dunes and villages gradually give way to the colourful flower fields for which this region is famous.

Spring flower cycling tour: 28.6 km past the most beautiful flower fields

Along the way, you pass through the welcoming centre of Noordwijkerhout. It is a lovely place to get off your bike, stretch your legs or visit VVV Noordwijkerhout for more information about the area. The route then continues through the flower-filled landscape. Stop for a break at Como & Co or De Volière beside the Oosterduinse Meer, or enjoy a coffee and a relaxing moment on the terrace at Landgoed Tespelduyn.

As you cycle towards Lisse, you pass some of the best-known places in the flower-bulb region. At cycle junction 48, you can take an optional detour to Tulip Experience Amsterdam, where you can learn more about the history and cultivation of tulips. Keukenhof and De Tulperij are also among the highlights of this spring cycling route.

After enjoying all the colours, scents and sweeping views, you cycle back to Noordwijk through the rural surroundings of Voorhout. The white lighthouse guides you towards the starting point by the sea once again. It is a fitting end to a cycling tour that brings together the beach, charming villages and colourful flower fields.

Practical information

The route is 28.6 kilometres long and takes approximately 3 hours, excluding longer breaks and detours. It starts and finishes at Vuurtorenplein 1 in Noordwijk. The tour follows the Dutch cycle-junction network, making the route easy to navigate.

Which flower fields are in bloom depends on the time of year and the weather conditions. Check the current flower map of the Duin- en Bollenstreek before setting off. It is also advisable to check the latest opening hours and any admission requirements for Keukenhof, De Tulperij and Tulip Experience Amsterdam when planning a stop.
